The ICAMB–OUC Summer Training Camp 2026 (i-Camp2026) was successfully held from 14 to 28 July 2026, organized by the Institute of Climate Adaptation and Marine Biotechnology (ICAMB), Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).

This annual program welcomed 19 students from OUC, accompanied by two academic staff members. Throughout the program, participants took part in a variety of activities that combined academic learning, field experiences, and cultural immersion.

One of the highlights of the program was the Campus Explorace, where participants explored the UMT campus, learned about its research facilities, and interacted with UMT students through engaging team-based activities. The participants also joined the Redang Island Educational Trip, which provided valuable insights into marine ecosystems and the importance of environmental conservation. In addition, several academic talks introduced participants to ICAMB’s research expertise and ongoing scientific initiatives.

To provide a deeper understanding of Malaysian culture, participants visited the Terengganu Cultural Village and several popular attractions around Kuala Terengganu, allowing them to experience the state’s rich heritage and traditions. As part of the program, they also travelled to Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, where they visited several iconic landmarks and gained a broader perspective of the country’s cultural and urban landscape.

During their stay in Terengganu, participants were given several group assignments designed to encourage creativity, teamwork, and communication. One of the main tasks was to produce a short video showcasing their experiences and reflections throughout the camp, allowing them to express their journey from their own perspective.

To further enhance their cultural experience, each group was also challenged to sing a song in the Malay language and perform a traditional Malaysian dance. These activities not only created a fun and memorable atmosphere but also encouraged participants to appreciate Malaysia’s diverse cultural heritage through hands-on participation.

Overall, the ICAMB–OUC Summer Training Camp 2026 successfully achieved its objectives by integrating academic learning, environmental exploration, cultural exchange, and international friendship. The program is expected to continue serving as a valuable platform for strengthening collaboration between ICAMB and OUC while providing meaningful and enriching experiences for future participants.
