Program Cakna Bakau Merdeka

ICAMB, in collaboration with INOS and EcoCare Kerteh, successfully organized the “Cakna Bakau Merdeka 2025” program on 3 September 2025 at EcoCare Kerteh, Kemaman.

The event brought together around 100 participants, including UMT staff, EcoCare members, students, and teachers from Sekolah Menengah Kerteh and Sekolah Menengah Kampung Baru Kerteh.

One of the main highlights was the “Cop Merdeka” activity and the planting of young mangrove trees along the Kerteh River mangrove swamp—symbolizing both sustainability and patriotism.

This program aimed to inspire love for the nation while appreciating Malaysia’s unique flora and fauna. The mangrove planting activity emphasized environmental sustainability while nurturing a sense of patriotism, especially among school students, by helping them understand the meaning of independence and love for the country.

In addition, participants joined a talk on the importance of mangrove forests for the environment, particularly for coastal areas like Terengganu. Students had the opportunity to learn more about mangroves and the ecosystems they support. The session was delivered by Dr. Siti from INOS together with a representative from EcoCare Kerteh.
